Anybody paying any attention will have seen changes to the banner and colours recently – probably noticed them 2 seconds before you started reading this post. There’s a small number of things what require tinkering but now all the “hard” stuff has been done.  It’s up and ready to use.

For those who wish to upload photos throughout the season you can do so at our photo site.  You can create an account and upload photo’s individually.  If you have so many pics that uploading them individually seems painful send them in a zip file to me (Barcs) or Brad and we can upload them to the site.

Ahem… Hello? Is this thing on???

Oh Yes! Hello and welcome to the new Pigs Cricket Club website for 2009/2010!  (Hooray).  This site will contain all the match reviews, photos, PCC event info and will cater to all your Pig related needs*.  Now, at this stage the site may look a bit incomplete.  There are sections missing and whatnot.  But hey, there is a good reason for that.  And that is, because at this stage, the site is largely in actual fact a wee bit incomplete.  Additionally, and perhaps more significantly, I don’t really know what I’m doing.

The old site fell into disuse within the Pigs community – instead it became a central hotbed for people to come to buy Viagra and peruse pornography.  While I personally found the latter appealing it was generally agreed among the powers that be that it was not an appropriate thing for the Pigs Cricket Club to endorse.  So, I’m trying to correct the order of the universe by:

  1. Making it easy for contributors to post match reviews and Pig related musings
  2. Allow anybody to post comments without signing in – it should be easy so as to encourage Pigs to use it
  3. Prevent untold quantities of spam
  4. To use numbered bullet points as often as possible**

Eventually, if I haven’t accidentally deleted them, I will include all the good links from the old website plus I’ll shortly be sending out a new questionnaire for a Pig Player Profile.  There is a lot of scope to upgrade the look of this blog too.  It’s possible to put photo’s in the background and customise the position of the links and various things like that.  But, as I said, I don’t really know what I’m doing yet.  I have to learn how.  And the time spent doing any of that is directly proportional to how much use this site gets.

Pigs – this is where I need your help.  Please leave a comment.  I think your first comment will be moderated, meaning that it won’t immediately be viewable on the site.  But subsequent posts using the same name and web address should not be, meaning they will be***.  Hopefully it’s pretty easy, but if not let me know.  Basically, try it out.  Push buttons.  Leave feedback and request features… that kind of thing.  If you would like to post blog entries let me know and I will set you up.  Once set up it’s remarkably easy.

Brad, special message to you and anybody else who would like to post photos on the site.  On the right there are 3 links to potential places which are designed to host photo’s on websites.  Please test them and let me know which one you’d prefer.  Also you can post photo’s directly in the blog but that doesn’t have any album concept so they may be better.  Alternatively Brad, if you’re willing slash able, you could set up a page on your own website for the pigs which can be linked from this site.  Food, in the form of words, for thought, not consumption.

*may not cater to all your Pig related needs.
**and asterisks
***Ummm, yes – I think that’s correct.
